

Local contracting firm Mohammed Jalal Contracting Company has submitted the lowest bid of BD43.56m ($116m) for the construction and maintenance contract for Bahrain’s Bilaj al-Jazayer Hotels and Residences project.
The project's scope includes the construction of all building structures and associated external works for the 1.3 million square-metre mixed-use development with a 3-kilometre beachfront.
The developer, Bilaj al-Jazayer Real Estate Development Company, received six other bids for the contract.
The other bidders and their prices are:
- Dadabhai Construction (local): BD45.6m
- Cebarco Bahrain (local): BD47.2m
- Nass Contracting Company (UAE): BD51.4m
- Poullaides Construction Company (local): BD53.5m
- Almoayyed Contracting (local): BD57.5m
- Tamcon Contracting (local): BD59.3m
Bilaj al-Jazayer will comprise resorts, residential villas and apartments, food and beverage outlets, offices, retail and entertainment establishments.
MEED previously reported that Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) will construct two boutique hotels along the main boulevard of Bilaj al-Jazayer.
The Avani and Tivoli hotels will each have 110 keys and are scheduled to open in 2024.
